Apple Releases tvOS 27.2 with New Features for Apple TV
Apple has officially released tvOS 27.2 for the Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) and newer models. Unlike previous updates, the Apple TV does not display release notes directly in the Settings app. Instead, Apple maintains a support document that outlines the new features and improvements included in each tvOS update. The release notes for tvOS 27.2 are now available, detailing the enhancements users can expect.
This update marks the first software release for Apple TV since the introduction of tvOS 27 in September, as Apple did not issue a tvOS 27.1 version. Among the new features in tvOS 27.2 are several enhancements to FaceTime, which aim to improve the user experience during video calls. Users can now utilize FaceTime links to join calls directly from their Apple TV, making it more convenient to connect with others.

Additionally, the update introduces support for sign language interpreters and captioning, allowing users to integrate third-party services into their FaceTime calls. Another notable feature is the ability to personalize screen savers. Users can now select specific photos from their iPhone to use as screen savers without needing to share their entire photo library with the Apple TV.
New Features Enhance User Experience in tvOS 27.2
tvOS 27.2 also includes a shuffle option for screen savers, enabling users to cycle through different categories as their Apple TV displays them. Furthermore, the Find My app has been updated to support the Siri Remote (2nd generation) and later models, allowing users to locate their remote using their iPhone. However, it is important to note that Precision Finding is currently limited to the Siri Remote (4th generation).
Apple has indicated that Siri AI functionality will be available on the Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) and newer models, although this feature is not yet enabled in tvOS 27.2. The new Apple TV 4K (4th generation) is set to launch on November 13, and Siri AI is expected to be one of its key features. It remains to be seen whether this functionality will be extended to older models in the near future.
