Hashdex Expands Nasdaq Crypto Index ETF with Hyperliquid's HYPE Token

Hashdex has expanded its Nasdaq CME Crypto Index ETF (NCIQ) by adding Hyperliquid's HYPE token, bringing the total number of assets in the fund to nine. This addition, effective immediately, underscores the fund's commitment to a rules-based approach that adapts as the cryptocurrency market evolves. HYPE qualified for inclusion in the Nasdaq CME Crypto Index, which requires assets to meet specific criteria related to market capitalization, liquidity, custody availability, and regulatory standards for crypto exchange-traded products.

With HYPE now part of the index, the NCIQ includes Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Hyperliquid, Stellar, Cardano, Chainlink, and Bitcoin Cash, offering a broad range of exposure to different crypto networks and their use cases. The NCIQ was launched in February 2025 with only Bitcoin and Ether, and has since grown through successive reconstitutions as new assets meet the index's criteria.

Hashdex's Chief Investment Officer, Samir Kerbage, commented on the significance of adding HYPE, stating that the fund's ability to adapt reflects the maturation of the crypto market. He emphasized that the fund aims to provide systematic exposure to emerging ecosystems, allowing investors to benefit from market developments without needing to chase individual narratives.

HYPE has seen substantial growth, surging nearly 230% this year to approximately $83, outperforming many other major cryptocurrencies. Additionally, Hyperliquid is reportedly in discussions with Kraken's parent company, Payward, regarding a potential U.S. offering of selected perpetual futures through the CFTC-regulated Bitnomial exchange.
